More than 3 lakh students have joined the Bihar Vidya Sathi app within a month of its launch, with around 73 per cent of users coming from rural areas, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari said.
The minister shared the figures during a review meeting held at the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) auditorium on Wednesday. The meeting reviewed the board's functioning, examination preparations, vocational education and measures to support students' academic and career development.
Bihar Vidya Sathi App Sees Strong Rural Participation
Tiwari said the response to the Vidya Sathi app was encouraging, particularly given that nearly three-fourths of its users are from rural areas.
The platform is aimed at expanding students' access to educational resources and support through digital technology. The minister emphasised the need to use technology to improve learning opportunities for students across Bihar.
BSEB Exams to Become More Technology-Driven
The meeting also discussed measures to make the examination process more transparent, secure and technology-based.
Officials reviewed preparations for linking students' APAAR IDs with Face ID and implementing the system effectively at examination centres.
The board also discussed ensuring timely declaration of results, including for computer-based tests (CBTs). Technology-based examination systems are being considered to improve efficiency while reducing delays in the publication of results.
Bihar Plans Modern Vocational Courses
The Education Minister stressed the need to align vocational education with changing technology and employment requirements.
Officials were directed to review older trades and courses whose relevance has declined and consider replacing them with modern, employment-oriented programmes.
Proposed areas include:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Animation and designing
- Mobile repairing
- Robotics
- Electrical and electronics
- Other skill-based courses
Tiwari also called for greater awareness among students about vocational education and encouraged the promotion of ITIs and industrial training as career options.
Easier Admission to Simultala Residential School
The meeting also discussed measures to encourage academically strong students and provide them with better educational opportunities.
The board is considering sending letters to students who secure first division in Classes 10 and 12. Officials also discussed steps to make admission to Simultala Residential School more accessible to talented students.
Focus on Reducing School Dropouts
Reducing school dropouts was another key issue discussed during the meeting. Officials considered preparing a strategy for students who discontinue education after Class 10 or before completing Class 12.
The proposed measures include connecting such students with further education or skill-development programmes. The possibility of providing financial incentives to encourage students to continue their studies was also discussed.
The review meeting brought together Education Department Secretary Rajiv Roshan, BSEB Chairman S Thyagarajan and other officials to discuss these education and examination-related initiatives.
