The Directorate of Education, Delhi, has launched the student reel-making competition to give school students a creative way to express their ideas about public service, responsible citizenship and nation-building.
Instead of writing an essay, students can use short-form videos to show how young people can contribute to society through everyday actions. The initiative is being conducted as part of the broader Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan.
What Can Students Make Reels About?
Students can create reels around several themes related to civic responsibility and social service. These include:
- Jan Bhagidari or people's participation in nation-building
- Cleanliness and keeping public spaces clean
- Environmental protection
- Helping elderly people and vulnerable sections of society
- Acts of kindness and compassion
- Community service
- Respect for public property
- Respect for national symbols
- Innovative ideas for social good
- Inspiring stories of individuals or communities contributing to society
- Students' vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’
For students, this means the reel does not have to focus only on a large social issue. An everyday act such as helping an elderly person, protecting a public space or participating in a cleanliness drive can also become the subject of a meaningful entry.
When Will the Competition Take Place?
The school-level activities under the campaign are scheduled from September 17 to October 17, 2026.
The competition will then move through different stages. District-level competitions and exhibitions are scheduled for October 8 to 10, while the final state-level exhibition, competition and felicitation are scheduled for October 12 and 13.

Drawing and Speech Competitions Also Planned
The reel competition is not the only activity under the campaign. Delhi government schools will also conduct drawing and speech competitions.
The drawing competition will have two age groups: 5–12 years and 12–18 years. The speech competition will be open to students of Classes 10, 11 and 12, with students allowed to speak in either Hindi or English.
Why Is the Initiative Being Organised?
The campaign aims to encourage students to think about how their everyday actions can contribute to society. By using a format familiar to young people, the Directorate of Education is providing students with an opportunity to combine creativity, digital storytelling and civic responsibility.
The initiative also connects students' ideas and participation with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
What Students Should Do
Students interested in participating should contact their school authorities for information about the school-level selection and submission process. Schools have been directed to encourage student participation in the activities.
Students can start by choosing one theme, developing a simple real-life idea and creating a short, meaningful story around it. The focus is on showing how individual actions can make a difference in the community.
