The Hindu College Staff Association (HCSA) has condemned the show-cause notices issued to three of its members amid an ongoing dispute over alleged irregularities in the admission process at Delhi University's Hindu College. The association passed a resolution against the action at an emergency meeting held on Thursday, September 24.
The three faculty members facing the notices include HCSA president Ratan Lal, secretary Shankar Kumar and faculty member P K Vijayan. The staff association has also decided to provide legal assistance to the members facing disciplinary proceedings.

Hindu College Staff Association Opposes Show-Cause Notices
According to the HCSA, the association had unanimously raised concerns about alleged irregularities in admissions during its meetings on August 18 and September 8. It questioned why individual members were subsequently issued show-cause notices when the concerns had been raised collectively by the association.
The staff body described the notices as an attempt to undermine the identity and legitimacy of the HCSA and its executive body in the functioning of the college. It also expressed concern over reports of alleged intimidation of students and teachers participating in protests.
HCSA Removes Hindu College Principal, Vice-Principal From Membership
The decision comes amid continuing tensions between the staff association and the college administration. The HCSA had earlier passed a no-confidence resolution against the principal over alleged procedural violations linked to admissions under the Sports and Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) categories.
The principal, however, has rejected the allegations concerning her role in the admission process. Srivastava said the admissions were based on allocations made by Delhi University and that her role was limited to final approvals.
What Are the Hindu College Admission Dispute Allegations?
The dispute began with concerns raised by the HCSA over the allocation of Sports and ECA seats during the 2026-27 admission process.
According to the staff association, 32 of the 48 Sports and ECA seats were allocated to two undergraduate programmes: B.Com (Hons) and BA (Hons) Political Science. The association alleged that this exceeded the prescribed limit for supernumerary quota seats in an individual undergraduate programme.
Why Were Hindu College Teachers Issued Show-Cause Notices?
The Governing Body issued notices over statements and communications made by the faculty members during the dispute. In Ratan Lal's case, the notice referred to his August 18 statement and subsequent communications concerning the principal and the admission process.
The Governing Body alleged that his statements discredited the college and violated the applicable code of conduct for teachers. A separate notice to P K Vijayan referred to an email sent to faculty members on August 21 and alleged that it contained derogatory or offensive characterisations of fellow faculty members.
