Jaipur FMG Interns Stipend Protest: Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) undergoing internships in Rajasthan have continued their protest over the non-payment of stipends and pending dues. The agitation in Jaipur has now received support from 35 medical bodies, while an FIR has reportedly been registered in connection with the protest.
The protest centres on the demand for payment of stipend to FMG interns at par with Indian Medical Graduates (IMGs), along with the release of pending arrears. The issue comes amid recent directions from the Supreme Court to the Rajasthan government to disburse pending stipends to eligible students within two weeks.

Jaipur FMG Interns Protest Over Stipend
FMG interns in Rajasthan have been raising concerns over delays in stipend payments during their compulsory rotating medical internship (CRMI). The interns have demanded that the Rajasthan government and concerned authorities ensure payment of the stipend and clear pending dues.
The protest was held at the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) office in Jaipur. Earlier, FMGS Rajasthan had called on FMG interns to participate in the protest, while the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) also extended support to their demand for stipend parity.
The issue has been raised repeatedly despite directions concerning stipend parity. FMG representatives have alleged that they are performing internship duties in hospitals but are not receiving the stipend applicable to them.
FIR Registered During FMG Stipend Protest
An FIR has reportedly been registered in connection with the Jaipur protest. The development has added another dimension to the ongoing dispute over stipend payments for foreign medical graduates.
The protesting interns and supporting medical organisations have continued to seek intervention from the Rajasthan government and medical authorities for resolution of the stipend issue.
35 Medical Bodies Extend Support to FMG Interns
As the protest continues, 35 medical organisations and bodies have extended their support to the FMG interns. The organisations have backed the demand for stipend payment and resolution of the pending dues.
FAIMA had earlier called for stipend parity for FMGs in Rajasthan, stating that foreign medical graduates undertaking internship should receive the same stipend applicable to Indian medical graduates for comparable internship duties.
Supreme Court Directs Rajasthan to Clear FMG Stipend Dues
The Supreme Court recently directed the Rajasthan government to disburse the stipend to eligible students within two weeks. The court also sought an affidavit from the National Medical Commission explaining why stipends were not being paid to FMGs at some medical colleges.
The court warned that the Rajasthan state secretary could be summoned if the direction was not complied with. The matter relates to allegations that some colleges were not paying stipends to foreign medical graduates undergoing internship.
