Uttarakhand MBBS Admission Scam: The Uttarakhand Health Services Department’s Medical Education Minister Subodh Uniyal has directed a thorough district-level investigation into around 350 cases of alleged domicile and category certificate fraud for state-quota MBBS admissions. The action has come following the cancellation of four MBBS admissions after it was discovered that the students had obtained their admission using forged Freedom Fighter Dependent (FFD) certificates. The process has been started following a whistleblower Pradeep Bahuguna’s submission of a list of doubtful admissions, where the candidates have obtained their MBBS admission using fraudulent domicile and category certificates.
As per the allegations made by the informant, these doubtful admissions include students who have studied or given their NEET entrance examination from other states like Bihar, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh. Considering the organized nature of the scam, the Minister has asked the Dehradun District Magistrate to present an investigative report on this case within a week so that the process of verification is completed before the current counseling session of the MBBS course ends. In the meantime, the Dehradun Police SIT has also launched an investigation into this matter of fake reservation certificates.
