Uttarakhand Tablet Scheme: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme providing funds to Class 10 and 12 government school students to purchase tablets. Unveiled during the Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan-2026, the initiative aims to bridge the digital divide, modernize secondary education, and offer merit scholarships up to ₹2 lakh.

Uttarakhand Tablet Scheme: A financial assistance scheme has been launched by the government of Uttarakhand which involves provision of digital devices to Class 10 and Class 12 students studying in government schools in the state. This was done by the Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, in an event known as 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan-2026'. In this event, he interacted directly with 140 students selected by the state after going through a campaign on ideation that generated over 2.67 lakh youth submissions. As per the scheme, the funds will be directly transferred into the accounts of students or their parents through DBT for purchasing individual tablets. 

The main purpose of such scheme is to bridge the gap in digital connectivity, help the economically weaker students with e-learning, and bring about modernisation in the secondary education system. With transfer of funds through DBT, it is made sure that the government's finances reach beneficiaries directly. Apart from tablets, CM Dhami also mentioned other student welfare schemes, including scholarship of up to ₹2 lakh for coaching in post-Class 12 competitive exams for those who show merit.

  • Announcement: The announcement was made by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand State Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami on the occasion of 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan-2026' event while talking with 140 state selected students.

  • Intended Target: All students of Class 10 and Class 12 studying in government schools of Uttarakhand state.

  • Mode of Information Transmission: The information will be provided through the transfer of funds directly to the bank accounts of students or their legal guardian through Direct Benefit Transfer.

  • Objective: Bridging the gap between digitally haves and have nots; helping students of weaker economic backgrounds get access to digital learning materials.

  • Campaign for Ideas: More than 2.67 lakh students have shared their ideas, essays, and ideas for the development of states as part of the ‘Kaisa Ho Mere Sapnon Ka Uttarakhand’ campaign.

  • Scholarship for Higher Education: The selected candidates with highly-rated ideas will get up to ₹2 lakh scholarship post-Class 12 to prepare themselves for future careers.
