Nagaland board has cancelled the mid-term exams for the class 8 and class 9 students. Marks of phase 1 and phase 2 exams are to be uploaded by the schools by January 20, 2024. Check details here.
Nagaland Board Mid Terms Cancelled: The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has announced the cancellation of midterms for students of classes 8 and 9 from the 2024 academic year onwards. According to the official notification issued, all the registered schools under the Nagaland Board of School Education must note that there will be no mid-term examinations for classes Vlll and IX from the academic session 2024 onwards. The board has already conducted the phase 1 and 2 exams for the class 8 and 9 students in September and December 2023.
The notification issued further states that the phase-I and phase-Il Examinations shall be conducted on the dates specified in the academic calendar 2024. The decision to cancel the mid-term was made to take more teaching days and to shift towards a semester-structured pattern of secondary education as per the NEP 2020.

According to the changes introduced, students are required to score the minimum qualifying marks in aggregate for the phase 1 and 2 exams combined to be promoted to the next class. The board mentioned that all institutions are required to enter the marks of the students in the Pupil Cumulative Record (PCR) as Phase 1 marks in the first evaluation column, Phase 2 marks in the second evaluation column, and consolidate marks of Phases 1 and 2 in the third evaluation column.

According to data available about 72 schools in the state are yet to upload the final results of the class 8 and class 9 students. These schools have hence been directed to upload the results on the official portal before January 20, 2024.
