NEET UG 2024 Supreme Court Decision: After listening to the arguments placed on over four days, CJI has concluded that a retest or cancellation of the whole examination is not justified. The Supreme Court has refused a retest for the NEET UG 2024 exams which were originally held on May 5, 2024.
The Supreme Court dismissed the petitions for a retest stating that the court had independently scrutinised the data placed on record by NTA and material is absent on record leading to a conclusion that the result of the exam is vitiated or that there is a systemic breach of the sanctity of the exam. The court further added that cancelling the NEET UG exams will not be justified on the application of settled tests framed earlier by the Supreme Court based on materials on record.
It however must be noted that the ranks of over 13 lakh students will face a reshuffle considering the IIT Delhi committee terming one of the two options in the NEET UG physics section on atomic theory as correct.

Expert Committee for NEET: CJI has noted the formation of a seven-member expert committee to strengthen the exam process and prevent such issues. The transfer pleas of NTA have been disposed and the committee has been directed to follow any further directions issued by the SC.
New petitions in HC under Article 226: NTA directed to address the special test conducted for 1563 students who were given the choice of retaking the exam or forgoing grace marks. The importance of the sanctity of the exam is emphasised and individual grievances not covered by judgement should be addressed in High Courts under Article 226 with petitioners needing to withdraw their current petitions before the SC.
