The searches reflected a “ diverse range” of interests, covering areas like sports, entertainment, practical questions, and trending phrases, as highlighted in a blog post by Google.
In India, the search for the meaning of different words this year encompassed a wide variety of themes. The phrase "All Eyes on Rafah" emerged as the most-searched term, while quirky expressions like "Pookie" and other words like "Tawaif" also garnered attention.

The phrase "All Eyes on Rafah" became the most-searched and trending term in 2024, linked to an AI-generated image portraying Palestinian displacement camps. The image went viral following an Israeli airstrike that caused a fire in a camp in southern Gaza.
Another notable search was "Akaay," which gained much attention after Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli revealed it as the name of their second baby boy child. Not only this, even "Cervical cancer" saw a surge in searches after Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged $7.5 million to support efforts against the disease.
