DU Financial Support Scheme 2026-27 has been announced by the Office of the Dean Students’ Welfare for students studying in full time undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Delhi University departments institutes and centres. The scheme aims to reduce the financial burden on students from lower income families. Under this support system eligible students can get up to 100 per cent fee waiver depending on their annual family income. Students who want to apply should carefully check the income limits eligibility rules required documents and the last date before starting the application process.
Financial Assistance Structure
Delhi University has divided the Financial Support Scheme into two income based categories. The first category is for students whose annual family income is up to Rs 4 lakh. These students can get a 100 per cent fee waiver. The support will be given up to the actual fee amount or Rs 15000 whichever is lower.
The second category is for students whose annual family income is between Rs 4.1 lakh and Rs 8 lakh. These students can get a 50 per cent fee waiver. Here too the amount will be limited to the actual fee or Rs 10000 whichever is lower. This structure is meant to help students who need direct financial relief to continue their studies without added pressure.
Eligibility Criteria And Exclusions
To apply under the DU Financial Support Scheme 2026-27 the student must be a full time bona fide student. The student must be enrolled in a Delhi University department institute or centre. This means the scheme is not open to every student across all DU affiliated bodies.
Some categories have been kept outside the scheme. Students studying in constituent colleges are not eligible. Students in BTech programmes are also not eligible except those studying at the Cluster Innovation Centre. Students of five year integrated law programmes cannot apply. Students of the School of Open Learning and the Non Collegiate Women’s Education Board are also excluded. Any student who has Essential Repeat status in any previous examination is not eligible under this scheme.
Key Documents Required
Applicants need to submit the following documents with the application:
- Copy of EWS certificate or OBC NCL certificate or annual family income certificate for FY 2025-26 issued by a competent authority
- Income certificate must not be in the student’s name
- Income certificate signed by a notary officer will not be accepted
- Self attested copy of latest Income Tax Returns for 2025-26 if filed for parents and unmarried siblings
- Brothers mentioned in the form must be below 25 years of age
- PAN cards of parents and unmarried siblings
- Self attested undertaking form
- Bonafide certificate signed by the Head or Director
- Self attested marksheet of the last examination
- Latest fee receipt
- Self attested copy of bank passbook or cancelled cheque with student name account number and IFSC code
- Third party bank account details will not be accepted
Application Deadline And Submission Details
The online application deadline for the DU Financial Support Scheme 2026-27 is October 13 2026. Students who want to apply should complete the online registration before this date through the official DSW portal at www.dsw.du.ac.in.
Delhi University has also said that details for offline hard copy submission and physical document verification at the DSW office will be released separately on the DSW website.
