Nisarga Adhikary is a 19 year old cybersecurity researcher from India who has quickly become a well known name in the world of ethical hacking. He first came into the spotlight earlier this year when he flagged major security flaws in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) On-Screen Marking (OSM) portal. The OSM portal is a digital platform used by CBSE affiliated schools across the country to upload and manage students examination marks. He has now been named in the US Department of Justice (DoJ) Hall of Fame for cybersecurity after he responsibly reported a critical vulnerability in a government system. Adhikary took to X to share the news and said he had been inducted into the US Department of Justice Hall of Fame. The CBSE OSM Portal and His Role at IIT Kanpur
The OSM portal is a digital platform used by CBSE affiliated schools across the country to upload and manage students examination marks. The system is part of the board examination process. It allows schools to submit marks online for compilation and result preparation. In June this year IIT Kanpur appointed Adhikary as an Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) and Threat Intelligence Engineer at C3iHub. That is its cybersecurity focused technology innovation hub. His interest in cybersecurity started early. He said he had been fascinated by computers from a very young age. He got into cybersecurity for fun when he was around 13. That curiosity gradually turned into something he wanted to pursue seriously.
