The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) 2026 elections are just seven days away, with polling scheduled for Saturday, September 18. The contesting parties have announced their candidates for the various posts. This year, Yash Dabas of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Vijay Shankar Meena of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) will contest for the post of president.
In the 2025 elections, ABVP secured three of the four key posts — president, secretary and joint secretary. The remaining post of vice-president was won by NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla, who secured 29,339 votes. More than 2.75 lakh students had cast their votes. ABVP’s Aryan Maan won the president’s post with 28,841 votes.
Both NSUI and ABVP shared the list of their 2026 candidates on their respective X accounts, highlighting student welfare as a key priority. NSUI used the slogan ‘Student Welfare Above All’, while ABVP called for ‘putting students first’ in their respective social media posts.
For the post of vice-president, NSUI has fielded Veer Chatarath, while ABVP has nominated Ishu Maurya. The two are among the key contestants for the post, particularly in view of last year’s results.
Riya Chhawdi of ABVP and Namrata Chaudhary of NSUI will contest for the post of secretary. For joint secretary, ABVP has fielded Lakshya Raj Singh, while NSUI has nominated Gopal Chaudhary.

NSUI also announced the candidate list on X. "Student Welfare Above All - Come, let us strengthen NSUI's hand in building a prosperous, safe, and better Delhi University," the post stated.
The DUSU election results will be announced on September 19, a day after polling. Voting will take place on Saturday, September 18, 2026, in two sessions — from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm and from 3 pm to 7:30 pm.

ABVP secured three of the four key posts in the Delhi University Students’ Union elections, while NSUI managed to win the Vice President’s position.
For the President’s post, ABVP’s Aryan Maan emerged victorious with 28,841 votes. NSUI candidate Joslyn Chaudhary finished with 12,645 votes, while the SFI-AISA candidate received 5,385 votes. An independent candidate, who was an NSUI rebel, polled 5,522 votes.
NSUI’s only success came in the Vice President’s contest, with Rahul Jhansla winning the post after securing 29,339 votes. He defeated ABVP’s Govind Tanwar, who received 20,547 votes, while the SFI-AISA candidate secured 4,163 votes.
The Secretary’s post went to ABVP’s Kunal Chaudhary, who recorded 23,779 votes. The NSUI candidate received 16,177 votes, followed by SFI-AISA with 9,535 votes.
ABVP also bagged the Joint Secretary’s position, with Deepika Jha securing 21,825 votes. She was followed by the NSUI candidate with 17,380 votes and the SFI-AISA candidate with 8,425 votes.
