IIT Roorkee: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee started its two-day convocation 2026 on September 19, 2026, by awarding 1,277 undergraduate degrees that include 1,001 males and 276 females at the beginning of the convocation. In the overall two-day process, 2,701 degrees will be awarded at IIT Roorkee, and this figure is considered to be the largest convocation awards given in the history of this prestigious institution. Day 1 of the convocation has honored the academic excellence of the undergraduate students who graduated from different undergraduate courses such as B.Tech, B.Arch, Integrated M.Tech, Integrated M.Sc, IDD, and B.S., apart from offering the first-ever five-year BS-MS dual degree program of IIT Roorkee.
The convocation address was delivered by the Chief Guest Shri Ajit Kumar Doval, National Security Advisor of India, who was awarded the Honoris Causa degree. Apart from him, the Guest of Honour was General N. S. Raja Subramani, Chief of Defence Staff. Srivaradan Balaji of BS-MS Chemical Sciences received President's Gold Medal for earning the highest CGPA of JEE Advanced intake.

Demographics of the Graduating Batch: At the Day 1 function, degrees were awarded to students in different fields of undergraduate study (B.Arch, B.Tech, Integrated M.Tech, Integrated M.Sc, IDD, BS-MS, and B.S.). There were 1,001 male and 276 female awardees.
Historical BS-MS Degrees: The BS-MS degree program, part of the five-year Dual Degree Program of IIT Roorkee, has been awarded for the first time.
Chief Guest: Shri Ajit Kumar Doval, the NSA of India, addressed the convocation and received an Honoris Causa degree in recognition of his public service.
Guest of Honour: General N. S. Raja Subramani, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Secretary, Department of Military Affairs.
Presiding Officer: Adv. Harish Salve, the Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Roorkee.
