School Holiday September 10, 2026: Students and parents are searching for updates on whether schools will remain closed on Thursday, September 10, amid heavy rainfall and weather warnings in many parts of India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several regions, raising concerns over waterlogging, flooding and disruption to normal school operations.
However, September 10 is not a school holiday. Schools are expected to function normally unless a state government, district administration or individual school issues a closure order due to adverse weather conditions.
School Holiday: Are Schools Closed on September 10?
Currently no school holiday has been announced for September 10, 2026. Most schools are expected to remain open and conduct regular classes.
However, school closures can be announced at the district level in areas facing heavy rainfall, flooding, landslides, waterlogging or unsafe road conditions. Parents should therefore check official notices issued by their district administration and schools before sending children to school.

Odisha Schools Holiday September 10
Odisha is one of the states that needs to be monitored closely on September 10. The IMD has forecast very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Odisha on Thursday. Many parts of the state are already experiencing significant rainfall activity.
If rainfall results in flooding, waterlogging or unsafe transportation, district authorities may announce temporary school closures. Students and parents should wait for an official district-level notification rather than assuming that schools will remain closed.
Kerala School Holiday September 10
Kerala is also expected to see renewed rainfall activity from September 10. The state has issued yellow alerts for some districts, with Alappuzha and Ernakulam under a rain warning for September 10.
At present, this does not mean that all schools across Kerala will remain closed. Any holiday decision will depend on the local administration and severity of weather conditions.
Delhi School Holiday September 10
Delhi schools are not scheduled to remain closed on September 10 due to rain based on the latest available information. However, Delhi schools will remain closed on September 11, 2026, due to the BRICS Summit being held in New Delhi.
The Directorate of Education has announced the closure for Friday, September 11. Therefore, students should note that the September 11 holiday should not be confused with a rain-related holiday on September 10.
September 10, 2026, is not a school holiday. Most schools across India are expected to remain open. However, district-level school closures remain possible in areas affected by heavy rainfall, flooding, waterlogging or other weather-related risks.
