Cyclone Arnab Latest Update: Deep Depression Moves Inland

The weather system over the Bay of Bengal crossed the north Andhra Pradesh coast near Kalingapatnam during the early hours of September 24. According to the latest reports citing the IMD, it has moved inland and is expected to weaken gradually.

The system brought winds of around 55-65 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 75 kmph, along with heavy rainfall in affected areas. The IMD has continued to monitor the system as it moves inland.

The weather impact has included heavy rainfall, waterlogging, flooding and landslide risks in vulnerable areas, prompting local authorities to take precautionary measures.

Odisha School Holiday September 26 

Odisha has been among the states most affected by the weather system. Several districts announced school closures during the peak of the rainfall spell.

Reports on September 25 indicated that schools and Anganwadi centres remained closed in districts including Koraput and Malkangiri because of heavy rainfall. Earlier closure orders also covered districts such as Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Nabarangpur, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.

For September 26, however, students should check for a fresh district-level closure order. A previous closure order does not automatically mean schools will remain shut on the following day.

Andhra Pradesh School Holiday September 26

Several Andhra Pradesh districts have faced heavy rainfall and strong winds associated with the deep depression. Earlier school closures were reported in districts including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Alluri Sitharama Raju and Anakapalle.

The continuation of the holiday will depend on local weather conditions and orders issued by the respective district administrations. Parents in coastal and rain-affected districts should check their district collector's latest announcement before sending children to school.

Telangana School Holiday September 26

Telangana has also experienced rainfall linked to the weather system. However, the September 25 holiday in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri was primarily announced because of the Ganesh idol immersion procession, rather than solely because of the weather system.

The IMD has forecast continued rainfall activity over parts of Telangana and neighbouring regions. Any school closure for September 26 will therefore depend on fresh government or district-level orders.
