As per media reports, ‘Precautionary restrictions’ which were imposed on Saturday in the wake of Ayodhya verdict, will be lifted from Jammu and surrounding regions. Following the relaxation of the restrictions under section 144 of the CrPC, schools, colleges and educational institutions in the city will reopen today i.e. from 11th November 2019 onwards. The decision in relaxation of preventive restrictions was announced by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma in a press conference on Sunday evening.
Restrictions Lifted after Assessment of Situation
Jammu Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma said that the restrictions were being lifted in Jammu Division following a thorough assessment of the situation in the district. From Friday evening to late Sunday evening, no untoward incident was reported from Jammu. He expressed his gratitude and thanked people of the district and media persons for the cooperation they had extended during the period of restrictions.
Controlled Restrictions Wherever Necessary
In the press address, Mr Verma also said that while largely the restrictions have been relaxed throughout Jammu division, controlled regulation with deployment of forces has been maintained in few areas wherever necessary. However, he said that these limited restrictions are for the safety of the citizens and will not hamper or obstruct normal life in the division.
All Schools, Colleges Reopen
All schools and colleges reopened today in the Jammu Division following the lifting of preventive restrictions. The decision to reopen educational institutions in Jammu division was announced by Director School Education Jammu Anuradha Gupta. Media reports have also indicated that examinations in schools falling in winter zone would be conducted as per the schedule along with other exams in the region. Meanwhile, all schools, colleges and other educational institutions shall remain open from Monday onwards in Kashmir valley, according to Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan.
