Pongal School Holidays 2026: Schools across Tamil Nadu to remain closed tomorrow, January 14, 2026 on the occassion of Pongal Holiday 2026. Pongal is a harvest festival celebrated diligently across Tamil Nadu. Like every year, Pongal is being celebrated this year on January 14,15, 16 and 17, 2026. The harvest festival is celebrated widely across the state of Tamil Nadu and Tamil communities across various states in the country. Schools will be closed for all the days of Pongal until January 17, 2026. 

Considering the significance of the festival, schools, colleges and all other educational institutions will be closed in Tamil Nadu on the occasion. Schools will remain closed on January 15, 16 and 17, 2026, across the state. The holiday will be applicable for government-aided, unaided, and private schools in Tamil Nadu.

Bhogi Pandigal is celebrated on January 14, 2026, and Thai Pongal is celebrated on January 15, 2026. While schools will be completely closed on the same date, school holidays may vary on January 14, 2026. Schools may remain closed or have shorter sessions in preparation for the festival the next day. 

Mattu Pongal is celebrated on January 16, 2026. On this day as well, schools will remain closed. Kaanum Pongal/Uzhavar Thirunal is on January 17, 2026. Since it is a Saturday, schools will remain closed.

Schools in Tamil Nadu Closed From Tomorrow

All government, government-aided, and private schools in Tamil Nadu will be closed from tomorrow, January 14, 2026. The educational institutions are closed on the occasion of Pongal holidays celebrated annually across the state. Schools will remain closed until Saturday, January 17, 2026. Schools are set to reopen on Monday, Januarty 19, 2026.

Shortly after Pongal, schools will gear up for the Republic Day celebrations in the state. Schools will be closed on January 26, 2026. Cultural events will be conducted across the state and the country on the occasion in schools and communities.
