Who Is Yash Dabas? Meet ABVP’s 2026 DUSU Presidential Candidate Amid Marksheet Controversy
Yash Dabas, the ABVP presidential candidate for the 2026 DUSU elections, has found himself at the centre of a controversy after a purported marksheet circulated on social media. An ABVP official has dismissed the allegations as part of a “smear campaign.”
Yash Dabas, who is currently pursuing an MA in Buddhism at the University of Delhi, is set to contest for the post of DUSU president on September 18 as the candidate of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
The controversy emerged shortly after the release of the DUSU candidate list, when a purported marksheet attributed to Dabas began circulating on social media. Questions were subsequently raised over the marks mentioned in the document and his academic record. An ABVP official, however, rejected the allegations and termed them an attempt to target the candidate.
“Yash Dabas is a promising candidate and has emerged as a popular choice among students. Such allegations are being circulated only to malign him and bring down his popularity,” the official told the media. The purported marksheet has not been independently verified by PTI, which reported on the allegations.
Who Is Yash Dabas?
According to his ‘Know Your Candidate’ website, Dabas hails from Kanjhawala, a village on the north-western edge of Delhi. Besides his academic background, he is also associated with tennis and has represented the University of Delhi at the All India and Khelo India University Games.
Dabas completed his undergraduate studies at DU’s Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur (SGTB) Khalsa College. He later pursued a law degree from the Campus Law Centre (CLC), Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.
He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Buddhist Studies and is expected to complete the programme in 2028.
Yash Dabas On Student Safety, Hostel Facilities
Dabas recently spoke to the media about the Satya Niketan building collapse and outlined some of the issues he plans to take up if elected DUSU president.
He said security audits of PG accommodations and hostels should be conducted to prevent similar incidents in the future.
“I want to give this message to the students that the accident happened in Satya Niketan. In the times ahead, we will work to ensure no such incident occurs, and for that, we will conduct security audits of every single PG and hostel,” he said.
The ABVP presidential candidate also raised the issue of hostel availability for Delhi University students. He said the organisation would work towards ensuring greater access to hostel facilities.
“Just as JNU and St. Stephen’s College provide hostel facilities for every student, in the coming times, we will work to ensure that every student at Delhi University gets hostel facilities,” Dabas said.

Other ABVP Candidates In DUSU Elections 2026
Dabas is not the only ABVP candidate contesting in the 2026 DUSU elections. Yash Maurya is contesting for the post of vice-president. Maurya is currently pursuing a law degree from the Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi, and had previously completed his undergraduate degree from Satyawati College.
Riya Chhawdi and Lakshya Raj Singh are contesting for the posts of secretary and joint secretary, respectively, on the ABVP ticket.
The DUSU elections are scheduled to be held on September 18, with candidates from student organisations such as ABVP and NSUI in the fray for the key posts.
