Top 5 reasons why companies are not hiring you

Apr 26, 2017 13:03 IST

without job, reasons for not getting job, joblessThough you might be updating your resume regularly and might have attended a fair number of interview sessions but still going out of job! What’s going wrong with your preparation? Are you too old, too young, over-qualified or just out of luck? Inspite of being well qualified there may be a number of reasons that why you don't receive the job offers of your interest. Actually, you are the sole responsible to be rejected for the job you were well qualified for. Hiring managers and recruiters don’t get paid to reject people. Their job is to find well suited people to fill vacancies. Thus, to undo the rejection mode you need to critique your interviewing presentation.

Here we have summed up 5 fair reasons why you may not be getting a job offer:

    1. Poor personal appearance

Your poor personal appearance might be the first most reason behind your rejection. Mind that a hiring manager would never hire anyone for his team who would be a distraction to others. His perspective on the way you look affects his first impression, and can help or hinder your success during the job interview. Your choice of attire, overall grooming, facial expressions, the way you enter the room and your handshake, all contribute to this impression.

    2. Failure to establish your worth

Candidates who fail to establish their worth are quickly eliminated. The hiring manager wants to know that what value you can add to the company and why you deserve to be a part of it. You are more likely to lose a job opportunity if you give the impression that you are only interested in “what’s in it for me” without regard to what you have to offer to the organization. So as you leave the interview, ask yourself what impressions you left in the mind of the interviewer.  For example, if you are being hired for a content developer’s position then you should convince the recruiter that how you can make the content more engaging but specific and simple at the same time to captivate your readers.

    3. Lack of enthusiasm

Vibrancy and enthusiasm are two key factors that every recruiter look for in the candidates because these two aspects are enough to adjudge your character that how good your attitude will be after you’re hired. Employers will often hire the most motivated candidate who they think would invest the most energy into the job. So, stop being passive if you don’t want to be weeded out early in the interview process. Showing confidence and a comfort level with people more senior to you will lead to your being considered for more challenging work.

    4. Lack of Interpersonal Skills

Interpersonal skills is a cluster of personality traits, social graces, communication, language, personal habits, friendliness, and optimism that characterise your relationships with other people. You may look much impressive on paper or on the phone but the game starts when it comes to the face to face interaction. If you throw any hint that you may not get along with other members of the team comfortably, it might prove to be a deal killer. Interpersonal skills complement your technical skills, enhance your job performance and add on to give you an edge over others.

    5. Lack Relevant work experience

In today’s cutthroat world of business, managers do not have time to mentor and train people as in the past. Work experience provides many benefits, giving you the appropriate skills that will help you hit the ground running without a lot of hand-holding and allow you stand out to potential employers. Moreover the relevant work experience works as an evidence for the recruiter that you are motivated to get into a chosen career and you’ve done your homework. Thus the recruiters would prefer to hire the experienced fellows who probably knows better that how to benefit the company’s business.

Getting a job is itself a job. All you need to grab a job is to eliminate the flaws that may weed you out of the selection process. Regardless of the reasons stated above, it’s your own responsibility to make sure that you are avoiding anything that would adultrate your abilities and prevent you from grabbing the opportunity.
