UPSC CSE Notification 2025 OUT at upsc.gov.in: 1129 Vacancies, Check Exam Dates, and Registration Link

Union Public Service Commission has started the online registrations for CSE and IFS Exam 2025. Students can submit their application on www.upsc.gov.in on or before 11 February 2025.

Candidates who will clear the prelims exam will be called to appear for the mains exam. UPSC CSE Mains Exam is scheduled to be held on 22nd August 2025 onwards for five days.

In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding their applications, candidature etc. candidates can contact UPSC’s Facilitation Counter near gate ‘C’ of its campus in person or over the Telephone No. 011-23385271/011-23381125/011-23098543 on working days between 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs.

The admit card will be issued in the second week of May. The e-Admit Card will be made available on the UPSC website [www.upsc.gov.in] for downloading by candidates. No Admit Card will be sent by post. No candidate will ordinarily be allowed to take the examination unless he/she holds an e-Admit Card for the examination. 

The interview or personality test will be conducted for the candidates who clear the main exam. The main exam will be of 275 marks. The candidate will be interviewed by a Board who will have before them a record of the candidate’s career. The candidate will be asked questions on matters of general interest. The object of the Interview/Personality Test is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in public service by a Board of competent and unbiased observers. The Interview/Personality Test is intended to judge the mental calibre of a candidate. In broad terms, this is an assessment of not only intellectual qualities but also social traits and interest in current affairs. Some of the qualities to be judged are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, balance of judgement, variety and depth of interest, ability for social cohesion and leadership, intellectual and moral integrity.

Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 100/- either by remitting the money in any Branch of the State Bank of India by cash or by using the Net Banking facility of any bank or by using Visa/Master/RuPay/Credit/Debit Card/UPI Payment.

No fee has to pay by Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Applicants.

Those who qualify for the prelims exam will be called to appear for the mains exam. The main exam will have questions on:

Qualifying Papers:

Paper-A (One of the Indian Languages) - 300 Marks

Paper-B English - 300 Marks

Papers to be counted for merit:

Paper 1 Essay - 250 Marks

Paper 2 General Studies-I - 250 Marks (Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society)

Paper 3 General Studies -II - 250 Marks (Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations)

Paper 4 General Studies -III - 250 Marks (Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management)

Paper 5 General Studies -IV - 250 Marks (Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude)

Paper 6 Optional Subject - Paper 1 - 250 Mark

Paper 7 The Government strives to have a workforce which reflects gender balance and women candidates are encouraged to apply. Optional Subject - Paper 2 250 Marks

Sub Total (Written test) - 1750 Marks

The commission has announced a total of 979 vacancies which include 38 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category. The final number of vacancies may change after getting the firm number of vacancies from Cadre Controlling Authorities. Reservation will be made for candidates belonging to reserved candidates.

Union Public Service Commission has uploaded the notification and activated the online registration link for CSE Exam 2025 on its official website i.e. upsc.gov.in. Candidates interested in applying for UPSC IAS Exam can check the notification and online application link above.

There will be four alternatives for the answers to every question. For each question the candidate has given a wrong answer, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty.

If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer even if one of the given answers happens to be correct and there will be same penalty as above for that question. If a question is left blank i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that
question.

The selection will be done on the basis of three stages:

1. UPSC CSE Prelims Exam 2025
2. UPSC CSE Mains Exam 2025
3. UPSC CSE Interview 2025

The aspirant's age must be between 21 and 32 as of 1st August 2025. There are some age relaxations as follow for mentioned categories:

• OBC: 3 years
• SC/ST: 5 years
• Persons with Disabilities: 10 years

Union Public Service Commission will release the notification for recruitment of candidates under Civil Service 2025 today i.e. on 22 January. The link will also be generated for submission of application along with the notification.

Every candidate shall be permitted six attempts. However, relaxation in the number of attempts is provided to the SC/ST/OBC and PwBD category candidates who are otherwise eligible.

A candidate must possess a Graduation degree from any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification.
