The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has introduced two new undergraduate programs: Bachelor of Science (BS) Chemistry and Bachelor of Technology( B.Tech) in Design. Candidates interested in seeking admission to the B.Tech in Design and BS in Chemistry courses must qualify for the JEE Advanced. Students interested in the design courses must also qualify for the UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design). Candidates who clear the JEE (Advanced) can choose these courses through the JoSAA 2025 portal.

Program Overview of BS in Chemistry at IIT Delhi

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, has launched a new four-year Bachelor of Science program in Chemistry. Candidates seeking admission to this course can apply for admission with JEE (Advanced) scores, and the program will be made available through the JoSAA Counselling 2025. This newly launched program will commence in July 2025.

Experts Take

Professor S. Nagendran, Head of Chemistry, has said that this course blends deep chemistry knowledge with basic engineering. It will help the students tackle real-world problems by combining scientific depth with a practical approach.

This Bachelor of Science in Chemistry course is designed for students who are aiming to work in industry, academia or are looking to start their ventures, especially in the field of semiconductors, materials, defence, pharmaceuticals, chemical consulting, manufacturing and oil and gas.

The program coordinator of these newly launched courses described the curriculum of the program, which will be taught over four years. Below is the curriculum of the program described:-

Will include Common Science and Engineering Courses.

Will focus on the core Chemistry
Third Year and Fifth Year
Will offer research opportunities, multidisciplinary electives with an option to take a Minor in another subject.

These courses will also teach about Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Chemistry, which will be blended with computational thinking and experimental learning. This new course is designed with input from academicians, industries, students and policymakers.

The aspiring candidates who wish to seek admission to this program can apply for admission with the JEE (Advanced) scores, and the students must also qualify for the UCEED (Undergraduate  Common Entrance Examination for Design) examination.
