Students who want to study MBBS abroad and later practice medicine in India must have an important document called the NMC Eligibility Certificate. The National Medical Commission had opened the application window earlier with a deadline of September 30, 2026. However many students could not submit their applications on time because of technical problems on the portal. After receiving complaints the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of NMC has now reopened the application window so that students get one more chance to apply. New Deadline and Important Instructions
According to the latest public notice issued by NMC the online portal has been reopened with a fresh timeline. The submission of applications will start from October 1, 2026 at 10 AM. Students can submit their forms till October 7, 2026 till 6 PM. The notice clearly states that any incomplete application will be rejected without further notice. The Board has clearly mentioned that EMRB and NMC will not be responsible for any such rejected forms. After October 7 the portal for applying will be closed completely. Therefore students are advised not to wait for the last date and submit their applications as early as possible.
What Students Should Remember Before Applying
The NMC Eligibility Certificate is a compulsory document for Indian students who wish to pursue MBBS abroad and want to come back to practice in India. This certificate is also needed to appear for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) which is mandatory for foreign medical graduates. While filling the form students should provide correct and complete details. Any mistake can cause unnecessary delays because the Board may send the form back for corrections. The certificate is issued only after multiple verification checks as per the existing regulations. Students should keep checking their email IDs and the NMC online portal regularly for any update.
