QS Asia University Rankings 2026: KIIT emerges as Odisha's Top University

Bhubaneswar, Nov 5: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed to be University has once again brought pride to Odisha by securing the top spot among all universities—both private and government—in the state in the recently released QS Asia University Rankings 2026. It has been placed 294th in Asia, consolidating its position as a leading centre for higher education and research.
At the national level, KIIT-DU has remained in the limelight and secured its position among India's top private universities. The QS Asia University Rankings, carried out annually by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), grade universities on various parameters of academic excellence coupled with international performance. The latest edition received participation from over 1,500 universities across Asia, of which 555 were new entrants, thus making KIIT's performance all the more creditable.
KIIT has performed well in other international rankings, too. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, it placed 5th among Indian universities and was placed in the 501+ band globally. The ranking factors include citations per paper, research output per faculty, academic and employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, staff qualifications, international collaborations, and student diversity.
Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT, KISS and KIMS expressed pride in the success of the institution and said,

The recognition was celebrated by the members of the KIIT and KISS community, who thanked Dr. Samanta for his vision and for leading KIIT to become a globally recognized university in merely two decades.
