MEA Internship 2026: Registration Opens for October Intake; Check Eligibility & Details

MEA Internship 2026: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, has formally declared that applications for Term II of the highly esteemed MEA Internship Programme 2026 have been made available on a web portal basis. The programme is slated for a duration spanning October 2026-March 2027 and aims to provide the selected candidates with an excellent opportunity to have direct exposure to foreign policy making, international relations, trade policy, and other highly complicated aspects of diplomacy.

This particular programme is meant to link academic knowledge with governance by allowing the young and talented individuals from different regions to experience the foreign policy of the country in its true sense. Indian nationals, possessing a Bachelor's degree or being in the final year of their undergraduate course, who have a compulsory element of this internship in their academic curricula can apply for the same. In order to ensure diversity among the candidates in terms of their geographical location, this particular term is dedicated to candidates hailing from certain States and Union Territories.

How To Apply For MEA Internship 2026?

To apply for the MEA Internship 2026 follow the steps given below:

• Launch your web browser and visit the official website of the Ministry of External Affairs at www.internship.mea.gov.in for online internship application in 2026.

• Click on the registration link to create a new account with your active personal email id, mobile number, full name and a secure login password.

• Login to your account portal and provide your personal details, permanent address, domicile status and emergency contacts correctly in the prescribed form fields.

• Provide your full academic details such as Class 12 board marks, specialization in B.A. program, college affiliation, CGPA and marks in all the completed semesters.

• Upload scanned PDF copies of your identity proof, domicile proof, educational mark sheets, recent passport size photo, signature and statement of purpose (SOP) stating foreign policy interest.

• Check all the provided details for correctness, submit your application online till September 27 and download the application summary PDF for future use.

MEA Internship 2026: Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality: Indian nationality is required. 

• Educational Qualification: Applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university during the period of application. Undergraduate students who are in their final year can also apply but only if an internship is a compulsory part of their degree course. 

• Upper Age Limit: The upper age limit will be 25 years on December 31, 2026.  Regional Quotas: It refers to those applicants whose domicile belongs to 14 particular states and 4 union territories (Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, J&K, Ladakh, etc.).
