Gold Price In India: Why It Slipped In September After August Rally; What Could Drive The Next Surge?

Gold was facing pressure globally in the past two weeks, but the Gold prices did not as much as it was expected. The Indian gold market has shown resilience, due to many major domestic reasons.

Although the gold prices in India have witnessed a short volatility throughout the September due to the fluctuation around the world. According to the stats, gold prices fell over 8000 rupees from its peak in August. In comparison to the global gold market, this is the least fall back.

After surging nearly 12% last month, prices have corrected by around 4–5%, reflecting global and domestic pressures.

When we see the purest gold form, 24 carat gold, it was at its peak in August at 1,56,660 per 10 gram. It has now cooled down at rupees 153300.

These minor fluctuations highlight two things, one is its resilience and the flow of gold market domestically. Second it highlighted how international cues like US monetary policy, dollar strength, and local demand dynamics interact to shape gold prices.

India now heads towards its more festive and wedding season. According to the market, it remains in a consolidation phase with mixed signals.

What Lies Ahead For Gold Prices?

For now, when crude oil prices have fallen over 9%, gold is back in the front seat as a safe-haven asset. Indians are looking ahead to the calendar. Traditionally, gold prices are expected to rise. The gold price will see range-bound trading but in an overall upward-leaning trajectory. This is the behaviour of gold, when it falls, it tends to fall heavily, but when it rises, it often sets new benchmarks each time.

Domestically, festive demand, wedding season purchases, and central bank accumulation continue to act as steady support for the gold market.

Keeping this aside, any sharp updates in US interest rates or dollar strength could cap and limit the upside momentum of gold prices in the near term.

Experts and gold gurus suggest that MCX gold may test higher levels if global uncertainties persist. This keeps the investor community sentiment curious and cautiously optimistic. If the world remains uncertain (like wars, inflation, or economic problems), gold prices on the MCX market may go up again and reach higher levels than before.
