IAS Varuna Agarwal's Success Strategy:

Varuna Agarwal is a 26-year-old law graduate who turned into a Civil Servant after competing in the toughest exam of India, the UPSC Civil Services Exam. She clenched 38th rank in UPSC CSE 2020. Varuna is from Rudrapur. Her father, Subodh Agarwal and brother Rahul Agarwal are both Chartered Accountants. Her mother, Sadhna Agarwal is a housewife. She completed her education at Jaycees Public School in Rudrapur, then studied law at symbiosis Law School, Pune.

Varuna recalls how she had decided in class 10th that she would one day become an IAS officer. After she completed her graduation, she moved to New Delhi to start her Civil Services preparation. Varuna also joined classes for this. She, however, could not pass in her first attempt. Instead of losing hope, Varuna came out stronger and decided to find out her mistakes and prepare well the next time.

She could not pass in her second attempt as well. She was disappointed, but she was not going to give up on her childhood dream. She again prepared and better this time and appeared for CSE 2020. She secured 38th rank in this attempt and became an IAS officer.

Varuna recommends all candidates and aspirants keep their eyes on just one publication and avoid going for everything that is around them. She says, "Learn from your mistakes, instead of moaning over them and keep yourself in a revision mode always."

She also asks the aspirants to focus on their overall development and not just keep themselves involved in the bookish knowledge they acquire during their preparation. Keeping oneself updated is extremely important for Civil Services Exam preparation.

Varuna Agarwal is an inspiration for many small-town girls and boys who dream to achieve success in Civil Services Exams.
