What are Ashwin's Plans for his Career after International Retirement?

Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket on December 18, 2024. 

This decision came shortly after the conclusion of the third Test match against Australia, marking the end of a distinguished career in which he became India's second-highest wicket-taker in Tests with 537 wickets.

He has announced his retirement from international cricket, effective immediately, but he has plans to continue playing at the club level. 

During his farewell, Ashwin expressed that he still feels there is "a bit of punch left" in him as a cricketer and intends to showcase his skills in club competitions. 

He also mentioned a desire to fulfil his dream of winning the Ranji Trophy with Tamil Nadu, indicating that he may participate in domestic tournaments.

Additionally, Ashwin is set to return to the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he will rejoin the Chennai Super Kings, the franchise with which he began his IPL career. 

His participation in IPL 2025 is confirmed, ensuring that fans will have the opportunity to see him play in a competitive environment even after stepping away from international cricket.
