JoSAA Round 4 CSE Cutoff 2026: College-wise Closing Ranks for IITs

The JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) has formally published the Round 4 opening and closing rank for 2026 engineering admission. It can be checked on the official website at josaa.nic.in/. The opening and closing ranks are available for all the IITs, NITs, and engineering colleges to check and estimate the admission possibilities in different institutes. Based on the preferences filled during the counseling process, candidates are allotted a seat at specific institutes. Through the Round 4 cutoff, candidates can check their admission options and cutoff movement throughout the rounds.

In order to help candidates figure out their admission possibilities along with understanding the competition in the popular branch of Computer Science Engineering across different IITs, we have provided a complete list here. The list distributes the OR and CR for the different IITs based on open category and CSE background and explains the difficulty level as per institute. Check and figure out your seat options, whether to freeze, float, or slide your seat preference.

JoSAA Round 4 CSE Cutoff 2026: College-wise Closing Ranks for IITs

For admission to the popular engineering branch CSE at top IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras etc, candidates can go through a comprehensive list shared below. To understand the admission process, candidates have to first analyze which IIT opens and closes at which rank to determine allocation and confirmation of seats.

The table shared below shares ranks for open category candidates. It acts as a benchmark for other categories to carry forward and estimate the CRL (Central Ranking List). As per the official JoSAA Round 2 Computer Science Engineering Cutoff 2026, admission to IIT Bombay starts at All India Rank 1 and closes at 66, offering the strictest and most competitive admission for candidates (open category) in this branch.

Following this, IIT Delhi remains at second, offering the toughest opening and closing ranks from 35 to 128. This is followed by IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Kharagpur with opening ranks in two digits. Candidates can check the full list shared below in the table for an easy understanding for seat allocation based on OR and CR in different institutes.

To summarize the full list of IITs and the difficulty level, IIT Bombay stands at the top, offering the most competitive seats in engineering. Admission to IITs, especially in the most popular engineering branch, is expected to be difficult. During Round 4 the competition remains rigid with minor changes. Open category candidates can expect difficulty in admission to the branch while also looking for alternative IITs, apart from the top five, for a flexible admission option.

Factors Influencing JoSAA 2026 Opening and Closing Ranks

JoSAA seat allocation for 2026 admission is ongoing. It provides admission to IITs, NITs, GFTIS, IIITs, and top engineering colleges in the country. The admission is determined through opening and closing ranks, which is defined based on branch, category, quota, and college type.

However, the round-wise allocation process can be influenced because of several factors, which may impact the cutoff (opening and closing rank) for each institution and round. The authority follows these factors to designate the opening and closing ranks:

1. JEE Main or JEE Advanced difficulty level

2. Choices or preferences filled during the counseling process.

3. Category-wise distribution, based on reserved and unreserved categories.

4. Lastly, the seat matrix
