In ODI cricket, a partnership means the runs scored by two batters together before one of them gets out.
There have been several great ODI batting pairs in India. Some of the big partnerships that Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have made with their counterparts are worth mentioning.
In ODIs, the highest partnership for India is 331 runs made by Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, in 1999 against NZ.
The record line-up has been increased after Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill's stand in the 2nd ODI against West Indies on 30th September 2026 for India.

Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid – 331 Runs
India's highest ODI partnership is still the 331-run stand between Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.
The pair achieved this against New Zealand in Hyderabad in 1999. It was a partnership for the second wicket.
Their huge stand helped India post a massive total and became one of the most famous partnerships in Indian ODI cricket.
ESPNcricinfo's Statsguru provides partnership records for ODIs and allows records to be filtered by team, opposition and partnership runs.
What Is a Partnership in Cricket?
A partnership is the number of runs scored by two batters together.
For example, if two batters add 100 runs before one batter gets out, their partnership is recorded as 100 runs.
Partnerships are important because they can:
-
Help a team score many runs.
Put pressure on the bowlers.
Help a team recover after losing wickets.
Build a strong total.
Make a difficult run chase easier.
India's ODI history has seen many great batting partnerships. Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid's 331-run stand remains India's highest ODI partnership, while the latest big addition is Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill's 255-run opening stand against West Indies in 2026.
The new partnership also shows how India's ODI batting records continue to change as new matches are played.
