1. South Africa vs Australia

This match is often called one of the greatest ODI matches ever played. Australia came to bat first and the team put up a massive score of 434/4 on the board where Ricky Ponting scored 164 runs off 105 balls. 

South Africa had to chase this target of 435 in 50 overs, which was never done in ODI history. Herschelle Gibbs gave a solid performance where he scored 175 off just 111 balls, hitting 21 fours and 7 sixes. He and captain Graeme Smith put on a 187-run partnership to bring South Africa back in the game. In the end, Mark Boucher and Johan van der Wath held their nerves to help South Africa win by one wicket.

This remains the highest successful run chase in ODI history. South Africa are still the only team to have chased 400+ runs in an ODI.

2. Netherlands vs Scotland

Netherlands pulled off this successful chase in ODI cricket in their World Cup League 2 match against Scotland in Dundee. Scotland was in lead with George Munsey's record 191 off 150 balls and the scoreboard displayed 369 for 6. 

Max O'Dowd, though, wasn't worried. He scored 158 not out off 130 balls, and Noah Croes blasted 50 off just 29 balls to shut the door on Scotland. O'Dowd hit the winning runs which was a six down the ground. 

3. South Africa vs Australia

South Africa produced a stunning batting performance against Australia in 2016 at Durban. David Miller scored an unbeaten score of 118 off 79 balls, that included 10 fours and 6 sixes. 

He added an unbeaten 107-run partnership with Andile Phehlukwayo for the seventh wicket to help South Africa win by four wickets.

This was another example of why South Africa are considered the best chasing team in ODI cricket history.

4. England vs West Indies

England made light work of the 361-run target set by West Indies in Bridgetown. Jason Roy scored 123 and Joe Root hit 102 as the two put England in complete control early. 

Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes then applied the finishing touch to seal a comfortable six-wicket win. Roy was named Player of the Match.

5. India vs Australia

Chasing 360, India were powered by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who stitched an unbeaten 186-run partnership. Rohit top-scored with 141, while Virat Kohli contributed 100 and Shikhar Dhawan added 95, as India sealed a comfortable nine-wicket win with 39 balls to spare.

This chase was a sign of things to come. The Rohit-Kohli partnership went on to become one of the most dominant in ODI history.
