The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will screen a 30-minute sensitisation and orientation module on Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) for school staff on October 7, 2026. The initiative follows directions received from the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education.

The module has been developed to build sensitivity, empathy and an inclusive attitude among school staff towards children with special needs. It aims to help staff members understand the needs and challenges faced by CwSN and encourage appropriate, respectful and inclusive practices within schools.

CBSE Module For Teaching And Non-Teaching Staff

CBSE has asked all affiliated schools to facilitate the screening of the module and ensure maximum participation. The programme is not limited to teachers. It includes both teaching and non-teaching staff, covering a wide range of personnel involved in the school environment.

The list includes ayahs, drivers, clerical staff, receptionists, deans, wardens, heads of schools and other support personnel. CBSE has asked school principals and heads to organise the screening without disrupting essential school activities.

The module can be accessed through the PRASHAST portal at prashast.education.gov.in. CBSE has also stated that the number of schools viewing the module will be visible at the national level.

PRASHAST Initiative And Children With Special Needs

The sensitisation programme is part of the PRASHAST screening initiative being undertaken during the current academic year. PRASHAST is aimed at screening students for probable disabilities and facilitating timely intervention.

CBSE has highlighted staff sensitisation as an important part of the initiative because school personnel interact with students in different settings. Understanding the requirements of children with special needs can help schools create a more supportive and accessible environment.

The board has requested principals and heads of CBSE-affiliated schools to ensure maximum participation and extend cooperation for effective implementation of the programme.

The initiative is also consistent with CBSE’s broader emphasis on inclusive education, under which schools are expected to create equal opportunities and support the participation of students with disabilities.
