JNU PhD Admission 2026-27 Started: Last Date to Apply Online October 16

Jawaharlal Nehru University has started the admission process for PhD programmes for the academic session 2026-27. The university has issued an admission notification that invites online applications from eligible candidates. Admission to these PhD programmes will be based on eligibility criteria such as UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR, NET, JRF and GATE. The online application process will continue until October 16, 2026. Candidates who hold a valid JRF or a NET certificate or a PhD Admission Only certificate or any other prescribed eligibility certificate can apply. Who Can Apply for JNU PhD Admission 2026? 

The JNU administration has clearly listed the candidates who are eligible for these PhD programmes. Applicants must hold a valid JRF. They must have a valid NET certificate. A PhD Admission Only certificate is also accepted. GATE is another accepted eligibility route. UGC-NET and UGC-CSIR NET scores are valid as well. Any other prescribed eligibility certificate that the university accepts can also support an application. Candidates should confirm that their certificate is valid for the programme they choose.

How to Apply for JNU PhD Admissions?

Follow the simple steps mentioned below for JNU PhD Admissions. 

1. Visit the official JNU admission portal at jnuee.jnu.ac.in
2. Select the relevant PhD application from under the NET, JRF or GATE category as applicable to your eligibility and chosen programme
3. Click on New Registration and enter the required personal details
4. Log in to the candidate portal and fill in the academic details
5. Enter professional details where applicable in the application form 
6. Upload the scanned copies of your photograph and signature in prescribed JPG/JPEG format and file sizes.
7. Pay the application fee through the available online payment mode
8. Review the application form carefully and submit it 
9. Save or download the submitted application form and payment confirmation for future reference
