The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) has clarified that its Wellness Centres will continue to function from August 27 to August 31, 2026. The clarification comes after an unauthorised notice bearing the CGHS name and logo started circulating, claiming that the centres would remain closed during these dates due to the deployment of Medical Officers for NEET-PG 2026 examination duties.
The Directorate of CGHS has rejected the notice and made it clear that it was not issued or authorised by the department.
In its official clarification, CGHS stated, “It has come to the notice of the Directorate that an unauthorised notice bearing the name and logo of CGHS is being circulated.” The department further clarified that the contents of the circulated notice were false.
CGHS Wellness Centres To Remain Open
According to the official notice, there will be no blanket closure of CGHS Wellness Centres between August 27 and August 31 on account of NEET PG examination duties.
The Directorate has specifically stated, “CGHS Wellness Centres shall function during the aforesaid period in accordance with their prescribed working schedule.”
This means CGHS beneficiaries can continue to access services at the Wellness Centres according to their regular working schedules during the specified period.
The department has also directed the concerned authorities to make suitable administrative and staffing arrangements wherever CGHS personnel are deployed for official duties. The aim is to ensure that the regular healthcare services provided to beneficiaries are not affected.
What Was Mentioned In The Fake Notice?
The unauthorised notice reportedly claimed that CGHS Wellness Centres would remain closed from August 27 to August 31 because Medical Officers and other staff would be deployed for NEET-PG 2026 examination-related duties.
CGHS has clarified that this communication did not originate from the Directorate and should not be treated as an official order.
The department has urged beneficiaries and other stakeholders to rely only on verified CGHS communications for information regarding the functioning of Wellness Centres.
NEET PG 2026 Exam Date
The clarification comes ahead of the NEET PG 2026 examination, scheduled to be held on August 30, 2026. With the exam approaching, CGHS has specifically sought to dispel confusion caused by the fake closure notice.
Beneficiaries should therefore continue to follow the prescribed schedule of their respective CGHS Wellness Centres between August 27 and August 31, unless there is a separate official communication regarding any local change in timings or operations.
The CGHS clarification also reinforces that the viral notice carrying the CGHS name and logo should not be considered an authentic departmental communication.
