RGPV Launches Online Certification Course In Nanotechnology, Check Eligibility And Modules

Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), Bhopal, has launched a certification programme in Nanotechnology aimed at providing learners with foundational knowledge of the emerging field and its industry applications. The programme will be conducted in online mode for two weeks and is being offered at the undergraduate level. 

The course has been designed for learners who want to understand the basic concepts of nanotechnology without requiring prior specialised knowledge in the subject. However, candidates are required to have a basic understanding of Physics or Chemistry at the Class 12 level.

The programme is particularly open to graduating students from engineering, science and allied disciplines. It is also intended for learners looking for foundational or credit-linked certification, entrepreneurs, technology enthusiasts and those interested in pursuing careers in nanotechnology. 

What will students learn?

The course has been divided into six modules, covering key concepts related to matter, materials and devices at the nanoscale.

The first module introduces nanotechnology, including its meaning, history and development. The second module focuses on the nanoscale and explains how materials behave differently at extremely small dimensions.

The third module deals with nanomaterials, including their definition and classification. The fourth module introduces students to techniques used to observe nanoscale materials and the tools involved in practical measurements.

The fifth module covers the synthesis and characterisation of nanomaterials. Students will be introduced to different approaches for synthesising nanomaterials as well as an overview of techniques used to characterise them.

The final module focuses on consolidating the concepts covered during the programme. It also discusses the future scope of nanotechnology and career opportunities in the field. 

Course features

The programme will include real-world concepts and industry-related examples to help learners understand how nanotechnology is applied beyond theoretical study. Students will also have access to doubt-clearing sessions with faculty members.

Recorded lectures will be made available, allowing participants to follow the course according to a flexible weekly schedule. Candidates who successfully complete the programme will receive a certificate from RGPV, along with their final percentage or grade marks. 

RGPV’s School of Nanotechnology has been running specialised academic programmes in the field, including M.Tech and PhD programmes. According to the university, the School of Nanotechnology was established in 2007 and conducts research in areas such as nanomaterials, functional materials and thin films. 

The university has also previously announced certification courses covering introductory and basic aspects of nanotechnology, highlighting the institution’s focus on giving students an entry point into the field alongside its postgraduate and doctoral programmes.
