How to Prepare for CAT 2026 in 2 Months?

A good CAT preparation plan does not begin with a book. It begins with an honest look at where you stand today. Candidates should take a free mock test in the first two days. Check your sectional scores and note the topics that feel weak. Then divide your remaining days between learning and practising.

• Take one full length mock before you open any study material. It sets your base score and shows your real gaps.
• Divide the 60 days into two clear months. Month one is for concepts and month two is for practice and revision.
• Pick one source per section, One RC practice book, One DILR set book, One QA module and avoid too many sources as it may create confusion.
• Fix your study hours for the next 60 days. Anything above four focused hours a day works well for most working aspirants.
• Keep a small notebook for formulas, shortcuts and mistakes. You will revise only this notebook in the last week.
• Sleep seven hours a day. A tired brain reads slowly and solves puzzles poorly.

Month 1: Build Concepts and Strengthen Basics

• Finish arithmetic before you touch algebra. Arithmetic questions appear in almost every mock and they are easy to score.
• Read the theory once and then solve at least thirty questions on the same topic. Reading alone never builds speed.
• For VARC read a newspaper editorial every morning. Highlight the main idea of each paragraph.
• For DILR, start with easy sets. Accuracy matters more than difficulty in the first month.
• Write down every formula you learn in one place. Revise that page every Sunday.
• Do not attempt full mocks daily in month one. One mock a week is enough at this stage.

Month 2: Focus on Practice Mocks and Revision

• Increase mock frequency to two or three full tests a week. 
• Shift from learning new topics to sharpening known ones. 
• Solve previous year CAT papers set by set. They show the real difficulty level of the exam.
• Practise sectional tests on weak days instead of full mocks. 
• Revise your mistake notebook twice a week. 
• Keep the last three days light. Only formula revision and one final mock.

CAT 2026: Daily Study Schedule for Candidates

• One hour in the morning should be dedicated to VARC reading. As a fresh mind reads faster and understands better.
• Next, do QA practice for ninety minutes. Solve a fixed number of questions.
• In Afternoon or evening sessions one hour must be utilised to solve DILR sets. 
• Spend thirty minutes at night on revision also spend some time revising formulas
• Keep one day of the week lighter, Use it for backlog and rest instead of studying new topics.

CAT Mock Tests and Previous Year Questions

• Start mocks from week one even if your preparation is incomplete. Early mocks build exam temperament.
• Attempt at least 30 full mocks in 60 days. 
• Solve the last ten years of CAT question papers.
• Use mocks from the official test series and one trusted coaching series.
• Sit for mocks at the same time as your actual slot as your body clock gets used to that timing.

How to Analyse CAT Mock Tests

• Spend more time on analysis than on the test itself. At least 3-4 hours of analysis for a two hour mock.
• Mark every wrong answer as a silly mistake, concept gap or time pressure.
• Re-solve the questions you left unattempted as sometimes they were easy and you simply skipped them.
• Check your question selection in DILR. Count how many sets you abandoned halfway.
• Compare sectional scores with your last three mocks. 
• Note your attempt count in each section.
