Agniveer Eligibility: The Indian Navy (IN) has released the notification for the recruitment of Agniveer (SSR and MR) for 02/2024 batch. Candidates can apply online for the posts from 13 May 2024. The last date for applying is 27 May.
The Indian Navy (IN) selects the Agniveers through the Agnipath Scheme. This scheme provides a golden opportunity for India’s youth to experience IN life without having to make a long-term commitment. The selected Agniveer will work in the Indian Navy for four years.
Like any other defence service exam, Agniveer also will have to meet certain physical eligibility conditions along with educational qualifications to join the Indian Navy. In this article, we will discuss all the eligibility criteria.
Indian Navy Agniveer 2024: Overview
The candidates, who join through the Agnipath scheme will get Rs 21,000 in-hand salary during the first year of service, which will increase yearly. Apart from the salary they will get Rs. 10,04,000 "Seva Nidhi" package at the time of exit after four years. After successfully completing four years of service 25% of Agniveers will get permanent service based on organisational requirements. What is the Agniveer Age Limit?
All the candidates aged between 17.5 years to 21 years are eligible to apply for the Indian Navy Agniveer. The candidates born between November 01, 2003, and April 30, 2007 (both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply for Agniveer (SSR & MR) 02/2024.
Agniveer Marital Status
Only unmarried male and female candidates will be eligible for enrolment as Agniveer and Candidates will have to give a certificate of being ‘unmarried’ at the time of enrolment. The candidates shall not be permitted to marry during the defined engagement period of four years.
Qualifications required to become Agniveer in the Indian Navy
The education qualification of the Agniveer depends on the category for which they are applying. Refer to the table given below for detailed information about categories-wise educational qualifications:

Candidates who have appeared in the class 10th/12th Board Exam and are awaiting the declaration of results are also eligible to apply provided they fulfil all other eligibility criteria. Such candidates, however, shall only be selected when they produce the original mark sheet with the minimum laid down marks during Stage II of the recruitment process.
Agniveer Physical Standards
The Candidates must be physically fit to join the Indian Navy. Here we list down some physical standards that a candidate needs to meet.
- Height: The minimum height standard for males and females is 157 cm.
- Chest: The Minimum range of expansion is 5 cm only for males
- Weight: Proportionate to height and age.
