Who Won Irani Cup 2026?
The 2026 edition of the Irani Cup was played between Jammu and Kashmir and the Rest of India. Jammu and Kashmir made history in the previous Ranji Trophy tournament by winning their first-ever title, which resulted in their clash against the Rest of India in the Irani Cup.
In the match, Jammu and Kashmir won the toss and decided to field first. Rest of India went on to score 237 runs in their first innings, powered by half-centuries from Shikhar Mohan and Smaran Ravichandran. For Jammu and Kashmir, Sunil Kumar and Lone Nasir Muzaffar picked up three wickets each.
In reply, Jammu and Kashmir put up a really good fight, scoring 278 runs and taking a 41-run first-innings lead. Skipper Paras Dogra contributed with a well-made 75, while Abdul Samad scored 57. For Rest of India, Mukesh Choudhary picked up five wickets, while Akash Deep claimed three wickets.
In the second innings, Rest of India batted brilliantly and posted a big total of 319 runs. Smaran Ravichandran was the star of the innings, scoring a sensational century and finishing with 135 runs. His century helped Rest of India set Jammu and Kashmir a target of 279 runs.
Chasing a big target, Jammu and Kashmir crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for 111 runs. Apart from the opening batters, Qamran Iqbal and Shubham Khajuria, none of the Jammu and Kashmir batters could get going. Mukesh Kumar delivered an outstanding performance with the ball, picking up six wickets as Rest of India won the Irani Cup by 167 runs.
Smaran Ravichandran was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant performances with the bat. He scored 68 runs in the first innings before producing a match-winning 135 in the second innings to guide Rest of India to a commanding position.
