The main goal is to make daily travel to school easier. It also helps girls become more confident and independent. Around 1.4 lakh girls across Delhi will receive bicycles under the scheme.
Minister’s Message to Students and Mothers
Sood spoke to students and parents and school officials at the event. He said the scheme goes beyond providing transport. He said his joy was not merely that bicycles are being given to our daughters. He added that while we perhaps could not attach wings to their dreams we have given them wheels. He urged mothers to encourage their daughters to ride bicycles with confidence. He said the initiative would help students travel to school and nearby places on their own.
School Upgrades and New Student Support
Sood also highlighted several education and infrastructure initiatives in Delhi government schools. These schools now have 75-inch smart displays for experiential learning under the National Education Policy 2020. They also have ICT laboratories with 40 computers each. Language laboratories support the learning of regional and international languages. Under the NEEEV project student teams get grants of Rs 20000 to build innovations like drones, smartwatches and mobile applications. Two foot-over bridges on Pankha Road near C-1 and Jeevan Park Som Bazaar have been approved. These bridges will ease traffic congestion and improve safety for schoolchildren. The government will completely rebuild the 50-year-old school building during its current five-year tenure. Free two-year coaching under the Madan Mohan Malaviya Education Mission prepares students for NEET CUET and CLAT. Sood urged students to focus on conceptual understanding rather than examination scores. He encouraged them to aim for leading universities through CUET and to explore careers in different fields.
