Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University has announced a big relief for students in Nanded district of Maharashtra. The university will waive examination fees for eligible students from drought affected talukas. This benefit applies to the winter 2026 examinations. Those exams will be held in November and December. The decision aims to support students who face financial trouble because of the drought situation in the state.
Who Can Avail The SRTMUN Exam Fee Waiver?
The waiver is open to eligible regular students. It covers undergraduate students and diploma students. It also covers postgraduate students. Professional courses and non-professional courses are included as well. The benefit applies to students at colleges affiliated with SRTMUN. Students at the university campuses and sub-centres can also apply. Every applicant must show proof of residence in a drought affected taluka. A family income certificate is also required. Annual family income must not be more than Rs 8 lakh. Students must submit an undertaking too. That undertaking confirms they have not received examination fee reimbursement under any other government educational concession.
How SRTMUN Is Processing The Fee Waiver
The university will scrutinise and verify all documents at the college level. Only students found eligible after verification will get the examination fee waiver. The university took this decision after an online meeting held on October 1. That meeting was chaired by the state higher and technical education minister. The meeting reviewed the drought situation in Maharashtra. Instructions were issued there to waive examination fees for eligible students from drought affected areas. Reports say 265 of the 358 talukas in Maharashtra have been declared drought affected. The Board of Examinations and Evaluation has asked eligible students to approach their respective colleges. Students should carry the required documents and the prescribed undertaking. The waiver is meant to ensure that financial constraints do not stop eligible students from appearing for their examinations.
