The Delhi Education Department has asked officials and schools to make sure every student bank account is linked with Aadhaar. The aim is to stop failure or delay in giving financial benefits under various DBT schemes. Many students in government and government aided schools face payment problems when their bank details are not correct. The department now wants complete coverage so that no eligible student misses out on financial help. Scroll for more details.
Four DBT Schemes Running Through PFMS
The Directorate of Education runs four schemes through Direct Benefit Transfer with the help of the Public Financial Management System. These schemes cover students of government and government aided schools. The first scheme gives subsidies for school uniforms. The second scheme provides textbook subsidies for classes 9 to 12. The third scheme offers financial assistance for Economically Backward Minorities. The fourth scheme is the Lal Bahadur Shastri Scholarship for meritorious students. For the 2026-27 academic session the department has shared two lists on the EduDel portal. One list shows students whose DBT amounts were successfully credited to their validated bank accounts. The other list shows students who are facing payment errors. Even after repeated directions to verify and update student records some details still do not match and this keeps causing payment failures.
What Schools and Officials Must Do Now
The department has asked Regional Directors of Education to take up Aadhaar seeding of bank accounts of all student beneficiaries. They must also monitor progress regularly and coordinate with schools and other stakeholders to achieve 100 per cent coverage. The RDEs will guide district and zonal education officials and heads of schools to check the DBT error list on the EduDel portal. They must correct the required details and make sure updated bank accounts are properly linked with Aadhaar. Schools have also been told to organise awareness and help desk camps for students and parents. These camps will explain why Aadhaar seeded bank accounts matter and will help families complete the process. The department will also track district wise weekly progress reports on correction of student account details in the DBT error list and on the status of Aadhaar seeded bank accounts. The main goal is simple. Every eligible student should receive financial benefits without payment failures or delays.
