DU College Migration 2026: If you are a Delhi University student who wants to change colleges, the university has opened a fresh window for you. Eligible students can now apply for inter-college migration for the 2026-27 academic year until October 9, 2026. The university reopened the window from October 7 to October 9 after many students said they could not finish the process within the earlier period. The demand for more time was raised by student groups and the matter was taken to the university administration. The decision now gives learners a short but useful chance to complete their paperwork. This facility is not open to every student though. It comes with clear academic conditions and a few practical checks. The window is brief so students should plan their steps in advance. Scroll for more details.
Who is Eligible For DU Inter-College Migration 2026-27?
According to DU regulations only students who have reached the third semester can apply for migration. This means the process can begin only at the start of the second year of study. The first and second semester results must be declared before a student applies. The candidate must also pass the exams in both semesters. If there is a backlog in any semester the student will not be eligible for migration. A clean academic record is the first condition and there is no relaxation on this point. The rule was framed under Ordinance IV of the university ordinances. Students should confirm their result status and their current semester before they start the application. An application from a student who does not meet these conditions will not move forward.
Seats And Principal Approval Decide The Final Outcome
Meeting the eligibility rules is only half the task. The college where a student wants to move must have an available seat in the relevant course. DU has also made it clear that migration will depend on the permission of the principal of the respective college. A student therefore needs consent from the colleges involved and a confirmed vacancy in the chosen programme. Several DU colleges have already issued fresh migration notices for this session. Students should check these notices and the vacancy details on the official college pages before applying. Popular courses fill up quickly so early action always helps. The university has advised eligible students to complete the whole application process within the stipulated deadline of October 9. Late applications will not be accepted.
