The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad has revised its admission policy for the two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), commonly referred to as the MBA programme, for the 2027-29 batch. The key change is in the way CAT 2026 performance will be considered during the shortlisting stage.
Under the revised policy, CAT percentile will be used instead of the normalised CAT score for shortlisting candidates for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI). The institute has also specified category-wise minimum CAT 2026 percentile requirements.

IIM Ahmedabad MBA Selection Process 2027
The admission process will be conducted in two stages. In the first stage, eligible candidates are shortlisted for the AWT and PI. The institute considers the CAT performance along with the candidate's application profile.
The Raw Application Rating considers Class 10 and Class 12 marks, undergraduate academic performance, gender and full-time work experience. Candidates must also meet the prescribed eligibility conditions before being considered for shortlisting.
In the second stage, candidates who appear for both AWT and PI are evaluated through the Final Composite Score (FCS). The Personal Interview carries the highest weightage of 50 per cent, while AWT carries 10 per cent. The remaining 40 per cent comes from the normalised composite score.
What The IIM Ahmedabad Change Means For CAT Aspirants
The revised policy makes the CAT percentile an important factor at the initial shortlisting stage. However, simply meeting the minimum CAT cut-off does not guarantee an AWT or PI call or admission. IIM Ahmedabad also evaluates academic performance, work experience and performance in the later selection stages.
