As per the latest developments, the Maharashtra state government has announced that the two-attempt format for MHT CET will be held between March and May 2027. The exams were earlier scheduled to be held in December 2026 and April 2027 for the upcoming academic year. However, considering the feedback from parents, counsellors and educationalists, the exams will be held between March and May.
The two-attempt examination was announced for the current academic year in November 2025. This was done to bring CET in line with other national-level entrance examinations like JEE Main and reduce academic stress among students by giving them a second attempt at improving their scores.
For the current academic session, the exams were held in April-May 2026 and the results were announced within a few weeks. From this year onwards, the state decided to conduct the exams in December and April. Senior officials of the Higher and Technical Education Department mentioned that feedback was taken from across the state and a difference of opinion was seen from those in rural areas. Some parents and counsellors from Dharashiv, Nandurbar, and Chandrapur reportedly demanded that if two CETs are being conducted, they should be done after the Class 12 board exams.

What is the MHT CET Two Attempt Exam?
Maharashtra CET Cell introduced the two-attempt examination for the PCM and PCB entrance test in 2026. This was done to give students a second chance to improve their scores in the entrance exam. The best of the two scores will be taken into consideration for admission purposes. Students not satisfied with their scores in the first attempt of the MHT CET PCM and PCB examination can appear for the second attempt and improve their scores.
