JEE Aspirant, 18, Dies After Jumping From Flyover In Rajasthan's Kota, Police Suspect Suicide
Jaishree, a Class 12 student, lived in a PG accommodation in Vigyan Nagar area and was preparing for the entrance competitive examination since January this year. She allegedly jumped from the Kota-Jhalwar flyover in Rajasthan and died during her treatment after being rushed to hospital.
JEE Aspirant Suicide: A 18-year-old Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) aspirant allegedly died after jumping from a flyover on Saturday night, news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) reported. The student was a resident of Bihar and was studying in Kota, Rajasthan - a major coaching hub since January. Police are treating the case as a suspected suicide and are thoroughly investigating the student’s coaching institute and the postgraduate (PG) accommodation.
Jaishree, a Class 12 student, lived in a PG accommodation in Vigyan Nagar area and was preparing for the entrance competitive examination since January this year. She allegedly jumped from the Kota-Jhalwar flyover in Rajasthan and died during her treatment after being rushed to hospital.
“Jaishree, a class 12 student, had been preparing for the highly competitive engineering entrance exams at a coaching institute in Kota since January this year. She was living in a PG room in Vigyan Nagar area and died late Saturday night, they said.” PTI reported.
Police reported the case as a suspected suicide and said the circumstances of death would be clearer after talking to the parents.

“Police said prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide but more on the circumstances of her death would be clear after speaking to her parents.” PTI added.
Another JEE Aspirant Had Died In Kota Last Year
In November 2025, a 17-year-old JEE student had allegedly died after falling off the ninth floor of a building in Kota. The police had suspected it as a suicide on prima facie. He was a resident of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and had been preparing for JEE-Mains in Kota for two years and was living with his mother in a multi-storey building in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar.
“The teenager fell from the balcony of the ninth floor on Friday afternoon. He sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to a private hospital; however, he died shortly during treatment.” PTI had reported.
