Telangana Schools and Colleges closed from January 8 to 16 amidst rising COVID cases

Schools and Colleges in Telangana have been closed after an announcement was made by state Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. The schools and colleges have been asked to close down considering the increasing COVID cases in the state. Check complete details here.

Telangana Schools Closed

Schools and Colleges in Telangana have been closed after an announcement was made by state Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. The orders mentioned in the announcement will come into effect from January 8, 2022, and will continue until January 16, 2022. The decision to declare holidays for all the educational institutions in Telangana was taken after considering the increasing COVID cases and the Sankranthi holidays.

Schools reopened with COVID protocols

Schools and Colleges in Telangana have reopened 2 months back following all COVID safety protocols. With the reports of Omicron variant spreading, people have demanded a complete closure of schools across the country.

As per local media reports, CM Rao conducted a COVID review meeting and after assessing the COVID situation in the state, directed the concerned officials to make all the necessary arrangements in the state regarding the requirements for COVID patients and so on. As per reports, officials have also discussed the possibilities of not imposing a lockdown in the state under the regulations of the centre.

Local media reports also claim that the Sankranthi holidays in Telangana were initially supposed to begin from January 11, 2022, for the educational institutions but due to the rising COVID cases, the government has decided to coincide the holidays with those of the festival. 

Schools closed across the Country

With the country witnessing an increase in the COVID cases and new Omicron variants, schools and colleges of various states, especially those which have seen a sharp rise in the number of cases have been shut down. 

States have also started imposing COVID restrictions on people's movement and closing of educational institutions considering the safety of the students.
