UK Election results are underway and the Labour Party has achieved a landslide victory by achieving 400+ seats in the House of Commons. In this year’s elections, there were 107 candidates of British-Indian origin who contested for a seat in the House of Commons. Of these, some have won, as per the latest reports.
There were 15 MP’s of British-Indian origin in the previous parliament. These numbers are expected to rise this time once the results are declared.

Rishi Sunak

Rishi Sunak, the incumbent Prime Minister of the UK and the Conservative Party leader, has retained his seat in Northern England, but his party failed to achieve a majority.
Shivani Raja

Shivani Raja is a Conservative party candidate; she won from Leicester East, thereby gaining a seat from existing Labour Party. She was contesting against former MP’s Claude Webbe and Keith Vaz, who chose to contest as independents.
Raja was born and raised in Leicester. She studied at Herrick Primary, Soar Valley College, Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth II college. She also graduated from De Montfort University with first-class honours in cosmetic science.
Kanishka Narayan

Kanishka Narayan is a Labour party candidate. He became the first MP for Welsh hailing from a minority background. He defeated the former Welsh secretary, Alun Cairns. He was born in India but moved to Cardiff when he was 12. He earned a scholarship at Eton and studied further at Oxford and Stanford before becoming a civil servant.
Suella Braverman

Suella Braverman, a Conservative party candidate, has won the Fareham and Waterlooville seat. She served as an interior minister during Rishi Sunak’s tenure before being replaced by James Cleverly during the cabinet reshuffle.
