India have registered a dominant 72-run win over Sri Lanka in the Women's Asia Cup final 2026 on Sunday, September 13.
Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma laid the foundation for this massive win with brilliant knocks as India clinched their 8th Asia Cup title, way more than any other team in the history of the tournament.
The tournament took place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) consisting of 8 teams from the Asian continent.

First Innings
After winning the toss, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur decided to bat first and Indian batters made full use of it. Openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma stitched together a massive 129-run partnership in just 77 deliveries.
Smriti made 59 runs in 39 deliveries, whereas Shafali Verma scored the fastest half-century in Women's Asia Cup history in just 24 deliveries. She scored 68 runs in 39 deliveries.
Later, some valuable knocks helped India post a big total of 183 runs on the board in 20 overs. For Sri Lanka, it was a disappointing bowling performance as despite getting a few wickets, they were not able to control the flow of runs. Mithali Ayodhya, Chamari Athapaththu and Chamudi Praboda got 1 wicket each.

Second Innings
Coming out to chase, it was a massive challenge for Sri Lankan batters and they couldn't find a way through. The innings started with the early wicket of Imesha Dulani. Then skipper Chamari Athapaththu and Vishmi Gunaratne tried to stable the innings but the required rate was already climbing high as the side crumbled under pressure.
Nilakshika Silva supported with 22 runs, but that was way far from what was needed as Sri Lanka crumbled for just 111 runs in their 20 overs, handing India a big 72-run victory.
For India, it was Shree Charani once again who stood tall with her brilliant bowling performance, picking up 4 wickets and giving away just 20 runs in her 4 overs. She was well supported by Deepti Sharma's 3 wickets as India registered a memorable win.
