The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the Class 12 Sample Question Papers (SQPs) and Marking Schemes for the 2026-27 academic session, giving Science stream students an official reference for the 2027 Board Exams. The subject-wise PDFs for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology are available on the CBSE Academic website.
The sample papers are designed to familiarise students with the question paper structure, types of questions and assessment pattern. CBSE has also clarified in the sample papers that there is no change in the Question Paper Design and Assessment Pattern for the 2026-27 session.
CBSE Class 12 Physics Sample Paper 2027
The Physics sample paper carries 70 marks and has a duration of three hours. It contains 33 questions divided into five sections. Section A has 16 one-mark questions, followed by five two-mark questions, seven three-mark questions, two four-mark case-study questions and three five-mark long-answer questions. Internal choices are provided in selected questions.
One of the questions in the official 2027 sample paper asks: “A point charge +Q is placed at the centre of a spherical Gaussian surface of radius R.” Students are then asked what happens to the electric flux when the radius is doubled. The paper also includes numerical, assertion-reasoning, case-based and application-oriented questions.
CBSE Class 12 Chemistry Sample Paper 2027
The Chemistry sample paper is also for 70 marks and three hours. It has 33 questions, including 16 one-mark MCQs, five two-mark questions, seven three-mark questions, two four-mark case-based questions and three five-mark long-answer questions.
The questions cover areas such as electrochemistry, chemical kinetics, coordination compounds, organic chemistry and biomolecules. For instance, one official sample-paper question asks: “Which of the following complex is tetrahedral in shape?” The paper also tests students through assertion-reasoning and application-based questions.
CBSE Class 12 Mathematics Sample Paper 2027
For Mathematics, the sample paper carries 80 marks and has a three-hour duration. It contains 38 questions across five sections. Section A consists of 18 MCQs and two assertion-reasoning questions, while the remaining sections include very short-answer, short-answer, long-answer and case-study questions.
The paper covers topics including relations and functions, matrices, calculus, differential equations, vectors, three-dimensional geometry and probability. One of the questions asks students to find the domain of the function sec⁻¹(2x).
CBSE Class 12 Biology Sample Paper 2027
The Biology sample paper carries 70 marks and is to be completed in three hours. It contains 33 questions divided into five sections: 16 one-mark questions, five two-mark questions, seven three-mark questions, two four-mark case-based questions and three five-mark questions.
Questions in the paper cover reproduction, genetics and evolution, biotechnology, ecology and other prescribed areas. One sample-paper question asks about the consequence when “the pistil matures several days before the stamens” in a flowering plant.
How to Download CBSE Class 12 Sample Papers 2027
Students can download the subject-wise sample papers and marking schemes by visiting the CBSE Academic website cbseacademic.in and opening the Class XII 2026-27 SQP and MS section. They can select Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology and click on the respective SQP link. The corresponding MS link can be used to download the marking scheme.
The marking schemes should be used alongside the sample papers so students can understand the expected answer format and how marks are allocated. Practising the official papers can also help students become familiar with the structure of the 2027 Board Exam before the final examination.
