The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued a new notice about digital payments for its affiliated schools. The notice is available on the official CBSE website at cbse.gov.in. It follows a communication from the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance Government of India. The initiative has a clear purpose. It wants to expand access to digital payments. It wants more people to actually use them. And it wants safe payment practices across the entire education ecosystem. The plan will cover schools and students and parents together. Scroll for more details.
What Schools Have Been Asked to Do
Schools have been advised to offer digital payment facilities at different payment points. These include fees and canteens and libraries and other school services. Schools located in areas with limited connectivity have also been encouraged to consider suitable digital payment options. For fee collection the board has advised schools to use the Bharat Bill Payment System or BBPS. This system keeps fee collection standardised and secure. Schools may also integrate their payment facilities with ERP systems. That makes recurring transactions much easier to manage. Staff salary payments are one good example. The message is simple and practical. Paying for school needs should become quick, safe and convenient for every family.
Digital Awareness for Teachers and Parents
The notice also focuses on digital financial literacy across the school community. Schools have been advised to include digital payment awareness in teacher training programmes. They can also run school level campaigns. Awareness initiatives can be organised for parents as well. The goal is to help them understand digital payment practices that are safe and convenient. Schools can conduct such drives on their own campuses. They can also use school events and parent teacher interactions for the same purpose. These small steps can build real trust. They also help families use digital payments with confidence. The board has issued this advisory with the approval of the Competent Authority of the Board.
