Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has called for stronger coordination between industries and educational institutions to prepare young people for changing job requirements. He made the remarks while releasing the Haryana State Skill Gap Study and 23 district-level Skill Gap Reports at Gurugram University.
The reports assess industry requirements, the talent available in different districts and employment opportunities based on the skills and capabilities of young people. The findings are expected to help the state plan training programmes according to local industry needs.
Haryana Skill Gap Study Focuses On Industry Needs
Saini said Haryana has no shortage of talent but stressed that young people need the right skills and direction to match the changing requirements of industries.
He said sectors such as semiconductors, automobiles, artificial intelligence, electronics, solar energy and electric vehicles are developing rapidly. As a result, skill training will also need to keep pace with these changes.
The Chief Minister said Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and polytechnics are being linked with industries so that students can receive more practical training based on actual workplace requirements.

District-Wise Skill Reports To Guide Training
The district-level reports are intended to help authorities identify which skills and courses are needed in different parts of Haryana.
Saini proposed creating a portal that would provide information about the number and type of skilled workers required by industries. ITIs and polytechnics could then use this information to train students according to future manpower requirements. He also called for the findings of the reports to be discussed with representatives from ITIs, polytechnics and industries.
AI And Emerging Technology Skills For Haryana Youth
The Chief Minister said work is underway to establish artificial intelligence hubs in Gurugram and Panchkula. He also highlighted the need to prepare young people for emerging areas such as lithium, solar energy and electric vehicles.
Saini also said that having a degree should not be the only measure of a person's qualification. He suggested that short-term certification courses could help people with relevant skills access better employment opportunities.
A one-day seminar involving ITIs, polytechnics, universities, skill universities and industries has also been proposed to discuss the findings and future training requirements.
